RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Chief of the Signal Transduction Laboratory, Human Anatomy and Histology Branch, Department of Translational Medicine, University of Ferrara, IT.
General research interests: in vitro and in vivo study of signal transduction mechanisms involved in the growth, differentiation and neoplastic transformation of blood cells and solid tissues. Main objectives of the current research activity are the identification of new potential markers of the malignant evolution of breast and pancreatic tumors and of the failure of acute myeloid leukemias to current therapeutic approaches. The techniques used combine different approaches of cellular and molecular biology in in vitro and in vivo models. A recent research interest concerns the study of signaling involved in the generation of insulin-producing cells (β-like) from various precursors (normal and tumoral) and from non-pancreatic adult cells (trans-differentiation).
