Enzo Rizzo is Associate Professor (GEO11) at the Department of Physics and Earth Sciences of the University of Ferrara. Previously he was a researcher (III Level) at the Institute of Methodologies for Environmental Analysis of the National Research Council (CNR-IMAA) and received first the qualification and then the recruitment as Senior Researcher (II Level). He obtained a degree in Geological Sciences, at the University of Basilicata in 1999 (110 cum laude) and in 2003 he got his PhD in Methods and Technologies for Environmental Monitoring at the Engineering School of University of Basilicata (Italy). He spent a fellowship grant (2003-2004) at the Departement d'Hydrogeophysique et Milieux Poreux of CNRS-CEREGE (Aix-en-Provence, France). The main research activities consist in the study of geophysical techniques of electromagnetic type for both superficial and deep investigations (ERT, GPR, IP, SP, EM).
He has received several assignments both from the DTA Department of CNR, in the field of scientific coordination in national research projects, and from IMAA-CNR as research group manager, member of the Institute Committee, head of the Hydrogeosite Laboratory (where is located a unique facility in Italy, funded by a MIUR project, devoted to experiments through the application of geophysical methods to study analog models of various scenarios: from environment to hydrogeology, from archaeology to engineering). Moreover, he has played the role of Scientific Responsible of CNR-IMAA research activities in several national (MISE, MIUR, MAE), international (FP7) and regional (PO-FERS) projects. Moreover, he coordinated some industrial projects for the technological development of EM methodologies for the monitoring of areas of mining interest. He was co-founder of a Spin-Off company for technology transfer in applied geophysics.
He has developed a scientific collaboration network both nationally and internationally involving both CNR, OGS, INGV research institutes and Italian and international universities. In the field of didactics he has carried out the course of Geophysical Prospective Studies at the University of Basilicata (from 2006 to 2019), also carrying out tutoring activities both for degree thesis and doctoral thesis. He is a member of some international scientific associations in the field of applied geophysics (EAGE, EGU, IAH).
He is author of scientific papers published in international journals with peer review system and of abstracts/proceedings presented in national and international conferences, as well as some book chapters. He acts as referee for several international journals.
