Curriculum Vitae arch. Manlio Montuori
Manlio graduated in architecture in 1999 at the University of Naples "Federico II" with a thesis on the regeneration of Salerno seafront. His interest in Renaissance architecture led him to win, in 2004, a research grant on "The restoration of Renaissance buildings in Campania in the pre and post-Unification". In 2005 he won the selection for the XXIst cycle of the Doctorate in Conservation of Architectural Heritage at the Second University of Naples. His PhD research was dedicated to the restoration activity in Tuscany between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, examining in particular the character of Giuseppe Castellucci; in 2008 he discussed a thesis entitled "Giuseppe Castellucci and figurative interpretation of the restoration in Tuscany between the nineteenth and the twentieth century".
His research interests are focused to the study of historic buildings, as much as in 2004 he took part in the PRIN (research project of national interest) entitled "The architecture of classicism between the fifteenth and sixteenth century" (National Coordinator prof. A. Gambardella) deepening research into fortified structures and worship buildings dedicated to the Virgo Annunciata, while in 2007, taking part in the PRIN entitled "Knowledge of historic building techniques: protocols and innovative tools for the deployment and applicability of the process of conservation" (National Coordinator prof. S. Della Torre), his research pointed to building techniques in wood and the terracotta tiled floors.
Since 2010, he is an assistant professor n.t. in restoration at the TekneHub, Tecnopolo of the University of Ferrara, being a member in the Department of Architecture where he teaches Restoration of monuments. In analogy with academic research, which saw him involved in international conferences on issues relating to the conservation of the architectural heritage, he was able to practice the results of his research in some restoration projects.
