Vincenzo Coscia is Full Professor of Mathematical Physics at the University of Ferrara. Graduated with honors in Physics, PhD in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, he was previously Assistant and Associate Professor at the Schools of Science and of Engineering at the University of Ferrara. Director of the Interdepartmental Center "Mathematics for Technology, Medicine and Biosciences", member of the Executive Board of CIFL- International Research and Training Program in Clinical and Experimental Biotechnology, he has been Visiting Professor at Universities and International Research Centers (University of Pittsburgh, U.S.A.; Mathematical Science Research Institute, Berkeley, U.S.A.; Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach, Germany; Waseda University Tokyo, Japan; Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal).
Former member of the Research Council and of the Academic Senate of the University of Ferrara, he is member of the College of Professors of the PhD Schools in Mathematics and Informatics and in Medical, Omic and Oncological Sciences. He holds courses in Rational Mechanics for the degree course in Civil and Environmental Engineering and in Analytical Mechanics for the degree course in Physics.
He took part in several inter-university research projects, including three Projects of National Interest PRIN ("Systems of virtual bioengineering", 2005-07; "Statistical mechanics of disordered systems" 2010-12; "Integrated mechanobiology towards a precise medicine in the treatment of cancer", 2019-22).
He is full member of the Academy of Sciences of Ferrara for the Class of Mathematical, Chemical, Physical and Natural Sciences and member of the National Group for Mathematical Physics of the National Institute of High Mathematics. He carries out research in fluid and solid mechanics, biomechanics and mathematical modeling of complex systems. Author of more than fifty papers in scientific journals, he has been invited speaker at numerous international conferences.
He is Editor-in-Chief of the international scientific journal "Annali dell'Università di Ferrara-Serie VII-Scienze Matematiche", published by Springer Nature (New York) and reviewer for numerous journals in the fields of mathematical physics and applied mathematics. He represents the University of Ferrara in the Steering Committee of the Estense Foundation.
