Lorenza Marvelli, born in 1963, degree cum laude in 1988 graduated in Chemistry at Ferrara University. Since 1990 researcher at the Department of Chemistry.
Her research activity concerns the coordination chemistry of transition metals, in particular synthetic aspects, spectroscopic characterization and reaction mechanisms studies. The objects of the research are focalized toward the optimization of new strategies of formation of Metal-Carbon multiple bonds and synthesis of bimetallic ruthenium and/or rhenium system with conjugated bridge. More recently, an increased interest is concerning the synthesis of coordination ruthenium complexes containing new ligands with useful properties for therapeutic activity as anticancer.
She is co-authors of papers on international and indexed scientific magazines, book chapters and several contributes to national and international conferences.

Scientific collaborations
She has developed scientific collaborations with ICCOM-CNR of Firenze, Università di Venezia, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de Cadiz, (Spagna), Departamento de Ciencia de los Materiales e Ingenieria Metalurgica y Quimica Inorganica.
She spend research periods in the Departamento de Quimica Inorganica, Universidad de Almeria, (Spagna) and at the Plataforma Solar de Almeria, (Spagna); recently, research collaboration with Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota (USA).

Teaching
Since 1995 she teaches “General and Inorganic Chemistry” (theory and practice) for several degree courses and since 2002 she teaches “Teaching of chemistry and Laboratory” at the Advanced school for chemistry teachers (SSIS).
