Main research interests since 1988:
solid phase epitaxy and structural properties of semiconducting thin films;
lattice distortion and luminescence in semiconducting thin films;
structural and optical properties of photosensitive materials;
magnetic properties of nanostructured materials (thin films, multilayers, periodic arrays of nanoparticles), studied by microscopic and magneto-optical techniques;
growth of semiconducting and metallic thin films and multilayers.

During the year 2000 he has been in charge of the project PAIS “SFI2”, funded by I.N.F.M.
From year 2006 to year 2008 he has been in charge of the SUP&RMAN Net-LAB Ferrara Unit and coordinator, within the whole Net-LAB, of the sub-project “Understanding and control of ion-matter interaction processes”.
From year 2006 to year 2008 he has been member of the Scientific Committee of the SUP&RMAN Net-LAB.

He is in charge of the “Microscopy and NanoLithography” laboratory and of the “Growth of metallic films” laboratory of the Physics Department of the University of Ferrara. Since 2002, the “Microscopy and NanoLithography” laboratory is associated to the CNR-INFM National Research Center S3 (nanoStructures and bioSystems at Surfaces) of Modena.
