Nuclear Cardiology
1. Preclinical Phase I and II studies in the development of new radiopharmaceuticals for myocardial perfusion investigations (99mTc-NOEt and 99mTc-DBODC).
2. Prognostic assessment of chronic ischemic heart disease by myocardial gated-SPECT applied to particular patient populations: (a) diabetic subjects; (b) pacemaker wearers.
3. Comparative studies of diagnostic efficacy between imaging methods in the field of chronic ischemic heart disease (myocardioscintigraphy vs. echotomography).
4. Myocardial scintigraphy evaluation in patients with subacute and chronic myocardial infarction subjected to stimulating factors aimed at mobilizing stem cells in the bone marrow.
5. Study on the incremental prognostic value of the evaluation of the coronary calcium score associated with the stress-rest scintigraphic study of myocardial perfusion performed with the gated-SPECT-CT technique.
6. Prognostic meaning of post-ischemic stunning assessed by gated-SPECT myocardial perfusion in patients with suspected or known ischemic heart disease.
Nuclear Neurology
1. Use of cerebral perfusion tracers in the evaluation of neurological involvement in rheumatological pathology (neuro-SLE, neuro-Behçet, antiphospholipid antibody disease).
2. Comparative studies of diagnostic efficacy between imaging methods in the field of rheumatological pathologies involving the CNS (brain scintigraphy vs. MR spectroscopy).
3. Preclinical studies evaluating the retention of 99mTc-HMPAO in nervous tissue in experimental models of acute ischemia.
4. Prospective study of perfusion variations and cerebral ventricular volumes assessed by SPECT-CT in patients with chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) and undergoing surgery to remove venous malformation of the neck vessels by reconstruction with autologous vein patch.
5. Quantification of cerebral β-amyloid accumulation by PET-CT with 18F-Florbetapir in subjects with clinical-instrumental suspicion of involutional syndrome on a neurodegenerative basis.
