July 1991 Degree on Pharmaceuticals Chemistry and Technology (MPharm) took at University of Ferrara producing a graduation thesis entitled "The use of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) in the study of interaction between chemical compounds and genomic DNA", supervisor Prof. R. Gambari.
1991/1994 regularly attended a doctorate on Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Technology of the Department of Pharmaceutical Science at University of Ferrara, under the supervision of Dr. C. Nastruzzi and Prof. E. Menegatti, collaborating with the group of Prof. R. Gambari.
October 1995 PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences obtained producing a thesis entitled: "Innovative formulations for the administration of biological response modifiers: microspheres and liposomes", supervisor Prof. E. Menegatti.
1995/1996 HMC Post-doc fellowship at Pharmaceutical Sciences Department of Nottingham University (U.K.) studying the production and characterization of biocompatible and biodegradable microspheres for genic and antiallegic therapies part of the proget"Biological applications of advanced biophysical and surface chemical methods", supervisor Prof. Stanley Spencer Davis.
April 1997 Post-doc fellowship at Pharmaceutical Sciences Department of Ferrara University, project "Microparticulated systems for drug controlled release". Supervisor Prof. E. Menegatti.

Prof. Rita Cortesi is author of at least 150 scientific work considering papers on international journal, book’s chapters and patents.
She attended to more than 120 international congresses as presenting authors, with almost 80 presentation considering both oral and poster contributes.
The research fields focuses on the preparation and characterization of drug delivery systems, such as liposomes, niosomes, microparticles, nanoparticles and disks. Other interests are in the cosmetic field.
Her studies are conducted in collaboration with prestigious international research groups (University of Bayereuth, University of Catania, University of Verona, University of Rome III, University of Marche, Academia Romana of Iassy)
