From 1993 to 1997 he was Fellow of the International Board for Plant Genetic Resources (IBPGR) and then he was Fellow of the International  Plant  Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) at the University of Naples "Federico II" where he carried out the FAO financed international project "Documentation of Genetic Resources Utilizing Image Processing" in cooperation with the Italian National Research Council (CNR-IMOF) and some international research centres.  The research was accomplished in collaboration with and under the supervision of professor L. Monti (National Research Council - IMOF) and professor E. Filippone (University of Naples Federico II - Dept. of Plant Genetics) at the Department of Plant Genetics of the University of Naples "Federico II". His main research interests were in theoretical and application-oriented aspects of visual formalisms for databases and database design. With respect to theory, he studied problems related to the study, design and realisation of graphical user interfaces making easier data input and query in order to deal with plant genetic resources information and plant images. Moreover he designed and developed some imaging systems and software for plant and genetic resources image processing and management (with a simplified query by image approach). In 1995 he contributed to the design and realisation of one of the first Information System accessible via internet by means of a Web Interface. In this period he contributed to write European Union (EU) and European Commission (EC) research proposal and some of them were financed.
On these topics he published about 30 articles in leading journals, conferences, seminars, technical reports.  In 1996 he managed the organisation of the Workshop on "Characterization and documentation of Genetic Resources Utilizing Multimedia Databases" and was curator of the Proceedings of the Workshop.  In 1997 he designed and realised an information system managed accessible on an internet providing a Web Interface and a database management software programmed in Java.
From 1997 to 2001 he worked as Information Systems Officer at the Italian Ministry of Justice. His main activities where devoted to ICT project management and Information Systems Analisys, Design and Development. In 1998 he supported design and management of an automatic recruitment system providing  personalised automatically generated multiple choices balanced questions and answers. During this period he contributed  to write European Union (FESR and ESF) and European Commission (co-financed RTD programs) proposal of some EU and EC projects for law enforcement by means of distributed information systems. For the financed projects he contributed also to manage the start-up phase.
Since 2001 he works as Information Systems Officer and ICT project manager at the Italian Court of Auditors where he deals with some Information Systems (IS) driven Business Process Reengineering Projects (Italian Court of Auditors Prosecutors Office IS, Telematic Judgement IS, Telematic Transmission of Italian Councils and Provinces Annual Financial Reports (SIRTEL utilizing a standardised XML format for data exchange).  Nowadays he is in charge of a project for the diffusion of Information and Communication Technologies to the Regional Offices of Italian Court of Auditors.
Since 2005 he is also a Contract Professor of Computer Science, Computer Networks and Usability at the University of  Rome "La Sapienza" (Faculty of Science of Communications) and from 2008 he is a Contract Professor of Computer Science at the University of Ferrara (Faculty of Science).
