• Postdoctoral fellow at DESY (Hamburg and Zeuthen) and University of Edinburgh
• Staff member in the NIC group (John von Neumann-Institut für Computing) at DESY Zeuthen since 2000

• Research visit in the APE group at INFN Rome (1996-1999)
• Guest lecturer at University Milano Bicocca (2006-2009)

• Theoretical High-Energy Physics: phaenomenology of CP violation and rare B-decays
• Lattice Gauge Theories: simulation algorithms, non-perturbative renormalization of QCD,, Heavy-Quark Effective Theory for b-quarks
• Parallel computers for lattice QCD simulations: development of APEmille, apeNEXT, and QPACE, communication networks, system software, performance modelling and optimization, International Lattice Data Grid (ILDG)
