Curriculum

Valeria Vadalà was born in Reggio Calabria in 1982. She received the M.S. degree (with honors) in Electronic Engineering from the “Mediterranea” University of Reggio Calabria, Reggio Calabria, Italy, in 2006.

She received a Ph.D. research grant at the University of Ferrara where, in 2007, she started her research activity, which is mainly related to the nonlinear characterization and modeling of microwave electron devices. Since then she was involved in the research activities of the microwave research group at the Engineering Department of the University of Ferrara where she currently carries out her research activities.

In 2010, she received the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy, with the thesis “Characterization and modeling of low frequency dispersive effects in III-V electron devices”.

From 2010 to 2017 she was with the Engineering Department, University of Ferrara, Italy, as a Post-Doctoral Researcher. From 2018 she is an Assistant Professor at the Engineering department of Ferrara University, where she teaches the course of Electronic Measurement Systems.

In 2013 she was invited to spend a period as Visiting Fellow at the Telecommunication and Microwave Laboratory (TELEMIC) at the Engineering department of KU Leuven University in Belgium, in the framework of a collaboration with Prof. Dominique Schreurs, who is in charge of the microwave laboratory.

Valeria Vadalà received the national scientific qualification to function as Associate Professor (first call 2016) in Electronics.

She has co-authored over 50 publications in international journals and conferences. Her research activity can be divided in three main topics: the development of novel measurement setups for the nonlinear characterization of microwave electron devices; the development of nonlinear model formulations and model extraction techniques; development of circuit-design techniques for nonlinear microwave applications. Valeria Vadalà collaborates with national and international research institution and company as university of Rome “Tor Vergata” (Italy), university of Messina (Italy), KU Leuven university (Belgium), Chalmers University (Sweden), Leonardo Finmeccanica (Italy) Sumitomo Electric Industries (Japan), Anteverta Microwave (The Netherlands).

Valeria Vadalà presented her research activities at the most important conferences of the microwave engineering community, as European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference (EuMiC), and International Microwave Symposium (IMS).

Valeria Vadalà serves as reviewer for the international conference “European Microwave Conference (EuMC).” She also serves as reviewer of the following international journals:

  • IEEE - Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques
  • IEEE - Microwave and Wireless Components Letters
  • IEEE - Transactions on Electron Devices
  • Elsevier - Microelectronics Journal
  • Elsevier - Solid State Electronics
  • Wiley - International Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields
  • Cambridge University press - International Journal of Microwave and Wireless Technologies

Valeria Vadalà is member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and “Microwave Theory and Techniques Society” (MTTs).
