Lipid-dependent signal transduction; lipid-derived second messengers; protein kinase C; lipid transfer proteins; signaling mediated by PLCs and PI3-K; control of proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis; molecular basis of the effects of viral proteins, differentiating agents and growth factors on lymphoid and neuronal cells.
Current research interests include the study of the molecular basis of neoplastic transformation in several models, such as solid tumors and haematological malignancies. A major goal of the research activity is devoted to the identification of markers of malignant evolution of breast cancer, combining several approaches of molecular and cellular biology in order to identify molecular targets for antineoplastic strategies.
Current major international collaborations include Prof. Carlo Croce, Ohio State University in the field of breast cancer, and Mario Tschan, University of Bern, for studies on autophagy.
