Graduate in Latin Palaeography at the University of Florence, where he also achieved his PhD. He obtained a grant for the research project titled “The Italian Literature Manuscripts of the Origins” at the same University. From 2005 to 2011 he taught and made his researches at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland). He has taught Palaeography and Codicology at the University of Ferrara since September 2011.

The research interests focused on a wide chronology, from the late Antiquity to the Humanism. Actually, he has studied ancient codes and scripts (from the 5th to the 9th century), analyzing the manuscript production in uncial script, in Anglo-Saxon minuscule and in Beneventan script; moreover, he has dealt with the late medieval codes and scripts (as attested by the volumes ed. by SISMEL on the vulgar manuscripts of the National Library of Florence, 2002, and on the mss of the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, 2011); he has also worked at humanistic mss and scripts, particularly at the most recent tradition of mss of the Dante’s Commedia (with a monograph book ed. in Florence in 2007). This research allowed the author to further develop the subject, devoting a book to the mss from Florence on the antiquiores tradition of the Poem (ed. by Olschki in 2011). Finally, he has worked at the census survey on the medieval mss (on behalf of the Tuscany Region [CODEX Project] and the Italian Ministry for Cultural Activities and Properties [ICCU Project]).

He held various conferences in different universities and institutions in Italy and abroad, i.e. the Universities of Siena, Firenze, Perugia, Catania etc. as well as at the Istituto Nazionale di Studi sul Rinascimento and at the Circolo filologico-linguistico in Padova, at the Universities of Basel, Lausanne and Lugano, whereby he is still cooperating. Different courses and lectures are been held for doctoral seminars and post-graduate schools: Padova, Perugia, Basel and Lausanne. Recently, he has attended at the XVIIth International Congress of Palaeography, held in Ljubljana from 7th to 10th of September 2010, with a paper titled: “Les manuscrits de la littérature italienne des origines”, forthcoming in the Proceedings ed. by Brepols.
