Born in Rovigo (Italy) on May 19th 1966.
On 1991, Degree in Mechanical Engineering, University of Padova, Italy
On 1995, PhD in "Machine Design", University of Florence, Italy
From 1995 to 1996, Research fellow, Department of Engineering, University of Ferrara, Italy
From 1997 to 2000, Researcher, SSD ING/IND-21 - Metallurgy, Department of Engineering, University of Ferrara, Italy
Since 2000, Associate professor, SSD ING/IND-14 - Machine Design, Department of Engineering, University of Ferrara, Italy
Since 2011, Full professor, SSD ING/IND-14 - Machine Design, Department of Engineering, University of Ferrara, Italy
Since 2002, he is also director of the University Master “Welding Engineer”, according to the contents of the “International Welding Engineer” courses of the IIW, in collaboration with the “Italian Institute of Welding”.

His research activities deal with structural durability and fatigue behavior of materials and mechanical components. In particular:
- analytical and numerical investigation of stress concentrations in mechanical components
- micro and macro-structural behavior of metallic materials under fatigue loading
- experimental testing and design criteria of welded joints and welded structures under fatigue loading
- theoretical, numerical and experimental investigation of structural durability of mechanical components under random loading.
He is author of over 100 contributions to referred journals and conference proceedings. The papers published on international referred journals concerning structural durability subjects are more than 20.

Since 2000 he is director of the “Machine Design” section of the “Industrial Engineering Lab” of University of Ferrara. This laboratory consists of several fatigue test devices (general purpose testing machines and test devices for components), optical microscopes, instrumentations for non-destructive controls and service loading measurements. The laboratory carries on, not only scientific researches, but also several tests and industrial researches in cooperation with companies.

Scientific coordinator of the funded research project PRIN 2004 titled “Structural durability of mechanical components under random loading”
