Curriculum

Roberto Nicolucci was born in Ravenna. He studied at the University of Bologna graduating in Mechanical Engineering at the end of the 1980s. After an experience as a junior researcher in the shipping and logistics industry, in 1989 he started working as a construction manager in the shipyard and offshore platform construction industry. In 1991 he started a full-time career as a Occupational Health and Safety specialist; since then, until 1999, he has overseen tens of international construction and installation projects as HSE manager of general contracting companies with EPC operations in the shipyard, oil&gas offshore and petrochemical industries.

At the end of 1999 he co-founded Techno, an HSE engineering and consulting company with worldwide operations; he is still now the CEO of the company and director of the investee companies.

Since the beginning of his career as a manager and advisor he has led numerous research projects about safety in the construction industry and published widely; he is the author of several books focusing on safety at sea, emergency management in harbour operations, health and safety in the welding activities, in the confined spaces operations and in the use of technical gases.

He is advisor to the Public Prosecutor Court of Ravenna for work-related major and fatal injuries; he was a member of some international professional association and he is still now a member of some advisory boards.

Since 2012 he is also in charge of the business development of Techno for the European and African regions. In 2016 he founded ReWorx.Net, an international network of professionals and consulting companies dealing with decommissioning, adaptive reuse and urban/land regeneration.

Since 2004 he has collaborated with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ferrara as advisor in master thesis related to occupational health and safety issues; he teaches “decommissioning of industrial plants” within the Civil Engineering Master Degree (M.Sc.) curriculum studies.
