Roberto Formisano Ph.D. Curriculum Vitae

Roberto Formisano is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Humanities of the University of Ferrara.

He obtained his Ph.D. in Philosophy (2007-2010) at the University of Nice “Sophia Antipolis” (France) and, jointly, at the University of Bologna (Italy). During this period, he was also granted a Fellowship at the “Centro Studi Luigi Pareyson” (SDAFF, 6th Cycle), University of Turin, Italy (2010), and a Visiting Scholarship at UCLouvain University, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium (2009).

In 2013, he granted a Marie Curie Award (Postdoctoral Fellowship at the “Fonds d’archives Michel Henry” in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium). He held Postdoctoral Fellowship and research positions at the Department of Philosophy and Communication, University of Bologna (2013), the Institute for Advanced Studies, University of Strasbourg (2019), and the Department of Humanities, University of Ferrara (2021). Other positions and affiliations: Visiting Researcher at the School of Religious Studies, McGill University, Canada (2014-2017); Adjunct Professor of History of Philosophical and Scientific Thought at the Department of Developmental Psychology and Socialisation, University of Padua (2016); Adjunct Professor of History of Philosophy at the Department of History and Cultures, University of Bologna (2017); Adjunct Professor of Moral Philosophy (2019-2022) and of Communication Ethics (2021-2022) at the Department of Humanities, University of Ferrara. In 2019, he was invited as Visiting Professor at PUCPR University, Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Since 2017, he is an Affiliate Faculty Member at the Faculty of Arts, McGill University, Canada. From 2017-2018, he held the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Associate Professor in the sectors of Theoretical Philosophy (11/C1) and Moral Philosophy (11/C3).

He has participated in numerous international scientific conferences and is a member of Italian and international philosophical societies. He is a founding member of the Société Internationale Michel Henry (SIMH). He collaborates with various international research groups and has carried out research assignments assigned to him by European and North American scientific institutions. His research interests focus on contemporary French philosophy and phenomenology, including themes of ontology, hermeneutics, ethics, philosophy of religion, and philosophy of history.
