Born in Rovigo on 6 August 1966.
Secondary school accomplished in Industrial Chemistry specialization at technical Institute "F. Viola"in Rovigo (Italy) in 1985.
Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology achieved on 12 July 1991 at the University of Ferrara with experimental thesis entitled: "Synthetic and configurational Studies within the 2-halogenoamides", supervisor Prof. F. D'Angeli.
After the end of military service, done as officer in Medical Corps, from November 1993 he has participated in the IX cycle Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, until 31 October 1996. Thesis entitled "Synthesis of non-isosteric pseudopeptides related to biologically active compounds", supervisor Prof. F. D'Angeli.
From November 1996 to 31 December 1997 he continued research as a fellow at the Scientific Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry "G. Ronzoni" in Milan, in the field of RGD analogues as potential fibrinogen receptor antagonists.
Since January 1998 he started a collaboration with Prof. Daniele Simoni, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Ferrara. Main arguments in this period were inhibitors of dopamine transporter (DAT) and new analogs of retinoids as potential cytotoxic and/or differentiating compounds for cancer cell lines.
From 15 June 1999, he has obtained a two-years Post-Doctoral Research fellowship in the field of apoptotic inducing molecules as novel anticancer drugs.
From November 2001 he has become researcher of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Ferrara, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Until now, he has first continued the study on DAT inhibitors and retinoids. More recently, the research for new anticancer agents has been focused on derivatives of small natural molecules, such as combretastatins, resveratrol, curcumin, and, finally, hemiasterlins.
