Full Professor and PhD in Architectural Technology (SSD ICAR/12; CEAR-08/C), Dept. of Architecture (DA), University of Ferrara (Unife). Master Degree in Architecture “with honours and publication worthy” (1990) and PhD in Technology of Architecture (1995), University of Florence, Italia.
Coordinator of the Master's degree in Architecture (LM-4 c.u), DA, and of the integrated International Programs for a Double Master Degree (Unife/PUCPR, Brazil, 2013-2019).
He teaches at the Unife (and previously at the University of Parma, IT), as well as at “post lauream” and professional education courses.
Director of the “Architettura>Energia” multidisciplinary Research Centre, DA.
Coordinator of the “Energy Climate Architecture” national Cluster, Italian Society of Technology of Architecture (SITdA).
Member of: Governing Council of the Italian SITdA (2017-2023); scientific national and international editorial boards (e.g. TECHNE Journal - SITdA); Academic Board of international PhD Programme, Unife and others Universities, such as the International PhD "Environmental Sustainability and Wellbeing”.
He is director or co-director of book series (Maggioli Ed., EdicomEdizioni) and author of about 200 scientific publications.
Speaker at several National and International conferences.
Main research topics: relationships between climate, environment, architecture and sustainable processes and technologies, also focusing on the valorisation of historic heritage.
Supervisor of the research project “HeLLo - Heritage energy Living Lab onsite”, MSCA (IF Standard), HORIZON 2020 (2018-2020); Scientific Responsible of the Unife Project Operational Unit, national research “PRIN 2017” (funded 2019); project title: “TECH-START)”.
He has won several architectural public awards, such as the Green Building Council Italia Awards (with the projects: “Sustainable Unife", 2016); “Hello - Heritage energy Living Lab on site", 2018) and the “Best Middle Eastern University Award”, SDME2018, Dubai, UAE. Winner: team KNOW HOWse. He has been awarded prizes in several public architectural design competitions.
Coordinator of the Design Team - Unife for the scientific restoration project of Palazzo Tassoni in Ferrara (new expansion of the DA).
