Curriculum
Graduated in Political Science (socio-political track) from the University of Bologna, she obtained a PhD in Humanities and Social Studies from the University of Ferrara, where she was awarded the prize for the best doctoral thesis (25th cycle, macro-area: economic, legal, humanities and social sciences). She is currently a fixed-term Assistant Professor (RTD-B) at the Department of Environmental and Prevention Sciences (DISAP), University of Ferrara.
Her research and teaching activities focus on health, illness, care, and healthcare organization, with a longstanding engagement in medical sociology and social research.
As a research fellow at the University of Ferrara (2013–2015; 2017–2021), she conducted studies on the farmacia dei servizi (community pharmacy services) (research project: “Pharmaceutical Care and Care Relationships in the Community Pharmacy: A Case Study”, promoted by Assofarm) and on the Diario di salute (“Health Diary”) method as a tool for self-care and health education (research project: “The ‘Health Diary’ as a Method of Self-Care and Health Education Across the Life Course: A Study Among Emerging Adults”).
She has participated in several national research projects in the field of health and medicine, including those focused on the transformation of primary care and innovative socio-healthcare models such as the Casa della Salute / Casa della Comunità (within the framework of the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan – PNRR).
She has held teaching positions as an adjunct professor at the University of Macerata (academic years 2001–2002 to 2004–2005) and at the University of Ferrara. From 1998 to 2007, she collaborated as a sociologist of health and care with the Health Promotion Office of the Local Health Authority of Ancona, participating in national and regional research projects and delivering training activities for local stakeholders.
In 2008, she specialized in evaluation research by completing a second-level Master’s degree in “Evaluation of the Quality of Social and Health Services” at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, University of Bologna.
She is a member of the Editorial Board of the book series Scienze e Salute (FrancoAngeli, Milan), of the Scientific Committee of the series Percorsi di promozione e cura della salute (Aracne, Rome), and of the series Percorsi Sociosanitari (Du-press, Bologna).
She is a member of the Italian Sociological Association (AIS), within the Section of Sociology of Health and Medicine; of the Italian Society of Health Sociology (SISS); and of the European Sociological Association (ESA), where she is affiliated with Research Network 16 – Sociology of Health and Medicine (Explaining Health, Illness and Health Care).
Since 2023, she has been a supporting member of Graphic Medicine Italia, a branch of narrative medicine.
