Paolo Fabbri acted as member in the Executive Committee of "Rivista italiana di musicologia" since 1977 to 1985 and then as President of the Scientific Committee for the Monteverdi celebrations in Cremona (1993-94). He is member of the Editorial Board for the critical edition of Rossini's operas (1989-1998 for Fondazione Rossini in Pesaro; 2007 ff. for Bärenreiter Verlag in Kassel) and from 1994 to 1998 he was vice-director of the Rossini Foundation in Pesaro. 1992-2001 he represented Italy in the Executive Committee of the International Musicological Society. He is scientific director of FOndazione DOnizetti in Bergamo, and president of the Naionale Edition of the OPeras of Gaetano Donizetti. He operates in the Executive Committee of the review "Il saggiatore musicale" from its foundation in 1994. He is member of the Scientific Committees for the critical editions of Vincenzo Bellini's and Andrea Gabrieli's 'opera omnia', and one of the music coordinators in the Istituto di Studi Rinascimentali of Ferrara. For the publisher LIM at Lucca he supervises the series "ConNotazioni". He id director of "Musicalia. Annuario internazionale di studi musicologici" (Pisa, IEPI, 2004 ff.), that he founded. In 1989 he was awarded the Dent Medal, the yearly international Royal Musical Association prize for musicologists. In 1992 he was Visiting professor at the University of Chicago. 2001 he was appointed honorary member of the American Musicological Society.
