Curriculum

Born in Ferrara, Italy, December 8, 1962.

In 1987 she graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Ferrara (Italy).

From 1994 to 1998 she was granted of a Ph.D. scholarship from University of Ferrara, Italy.

Since November 2010 she is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy in the University of Ferrara, Italy.

She is author of 44 peer-reviewed publications in the field of Pharmacology and Neuroscience.

Her studies were focused on the field of Pharmacology and Neuroscience. In this contex, by using in vivo microdialysis and in vitro preparations (slices, synaptosomes, cell cultures), she studied the interactions between classical neurotransmitters, the modulation of neurotransmitter release by neuropeptides and the neurochemical changes induced by acute and chronic treatments with neurotropic drugs. In particular, most of her scientific activity focuses on: i) study of the neurotransmitters(glutamate) and/or neuropeptides that are involved in the neuronal cell death associated with chronic neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases; ii) study of the neurochemical mechanisms underlying the effects of cannabinoids on cognitive processes and the effects of prenatal exposure to cannabinoids on neurochemical transmission. Recently, her research has been focused on the development and optimization of in vitro and in vivo experimental models for application in preclinical testing activities in animal model of neurodegenerative disease, according to the bench-to-bedside approach of the translational medicine.
