Curriculum

Luca Rocchi (Reggio Emilia, 1979) from 2010 is contract researcher at the TekneHub Lab of the Univerity Tecnopolo of Ferrara, in the field of Restoring the Heritage.
The TekneHub is within the regional High Tecnology Network, part of the European Platforms.

Luca Rocchi took her Degree in 2005 at the Faculty of Architecture in Ferrara, disserting on the Medieval cylindrical belltower in Ravenna. In 2010 he took PhD in Building Technology, disserting on early XXth century artificial stone.
In his research activity he develops local and national research studies, focused on restoration and conservation of historic building at different scales, from the individual edifice to the global urban framework; and on historical materials and construction tecnologies.

He’s partecipating a long-term research concerning the history of the city of Ferrara, through the systematic study of the historical basic and specialized buildings, to know the process of foundation and development of the city, in collaboration with the Labo.RA (Laboratory of Architectural Restoration, Department of Architecture), which is a member since 2007.

He’s developing  research activities concerning the preservation and maintenance techniques of XXth century buildings and urban area, and the conservation problems of the materials used in contemporary buildings. Some researches are: twentieth century architectures in Ferrara, census, intervention categories and guidelines for effective protection measures in the new planning tools (now included in the Urban Plan of Ferrara); artificial stone used in early XXth century buldings and in the architecture built during the Fascism; Liberty and Neo-Estensi building in Ferrara and in Emilia-Romagna.

On these research topics he lectured at national and international seminars and conferences, and at the Faculty of Architecture in Ferrara for the courses of the Architectural Restoration teaching area. He’s also author or co-author of books and essays or articles for national books and magazines.
