Born in Bergamo on 12.21.1963, he graduated in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics in July 1988
at the State University of Milan with a grade of 110/110 cum laude. He specialized in 1994 in
Orthodontics at the State University of Milan with a score of 70/70 cum laude.
From 1994 to 1996 he was a Tutor in Orthodontics for the Degree Course in Dentistry
and Dental Prosthetics of the University of Milan, carrying out teaching and research activities.
In 1996 he obtained a specialization in implant prosthetics at the University of Milan.
Tutor and trainer for the CLOPD Orthodontics and Periodontology Course
of the State University of Milan.
since 2001 he has worked as a Contract Professor at the University of Milan Bicocca, at the degree courses in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, in Dental Hygiene, at the specialization school in Otolaryngology and in Maxillofacial Surgery.
In 2010 he won the competition for University Researcher Med 28 at
the University of Milan-Bicocca.
In 2014 he was confirmed in his role as MED28 University Researcher.
In March 2018 he obtained the ASN qualification for the role of Associate Professor for the scientific disciplinary sector MED/28.
In February 2023 he obtained the ASN qualification for the role of Full Professor for the scientific disciplinary sector MED/28.
From 1 February 2024, winner of the competition for Associate Professor according to article 18 in the scientific disciplinary sector MED/28, he will take up service as an associate professor at the University of Ferrara. Clinical Activity
He carried out clinical activity at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan from 1991 to 1999;
From 2000 to 2005 he was Head of the Orthodontics Section of the Clinic
University student of the University of Milan-Bicocca at the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza
(Director: Prof. M Baldoni).
In 2005, as Manager, he activated the Pediatric Dental Center and
Geriatric Rehabilitation of the European Foundation for Biomedical Research (FERB),
at the Trescore Balneario Hospital (Bg), which has an agreement with the Degree Courses in
Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics and Dental Hygiene at the University of Milan
Bicocca.
In March 2007 he was called back, after having activated and directed it from 2001 to 2005 as part of the agreement between Unimib and A.O., from the Bolognini Hospital of Seriate (Bergamo), to direct the ORTHOGNATHODONTIC CENTER at the Pesenti Hospital
Fenaroli of Alzano Lombardo, affiliated with the CLID of the University of Milan
Bicocca, as well as coordinating the entire odontostomatological activity of all the facilities
company hospitals.
In 2010 he won the competition for University Researcher Med 28 at

In 2010 he was appointed Visiting Professor at the University of Paris VII (France),

From February 2014 to 31 December 2017 he directed the orthodontic activity at the dentistry service of the Pesenti Fenaroli Hospital in Alzano Lombardo (Bergamo).
From February 2020 to February 2023 he directs the orthodontic activity at the dentistry service of the Niguarda Metropolitan Hospital in Milan.
Research activity
In the years 1996-99 he carried out research work on behalf of Dr. Marco Baldoni
periodontal and orthodontic field, from which scientific works and educational topics arose
carried out as part of the Periodontology course at the University of Milan.
In 2000 he was called by Prof. Marco Baldoni to coordinate teaching and research in
pedo-orthodontic field and in the field of odontostomatological therapy
laser-assisted treatment of the Dental Clinic of the University of Milan-Bicocca.
Laser research in dentistry has been carried out by Dr Gianluigi Caccianiga since
1999, with particular emphasis on the fields of periodontology, surgery, orthodontics, prosthetics and
pedodontics.
Teaching activity
He was a teacher and Scientific Director of the Specialization Course in
Orthodontics at the University of Milan-Bicocca from 2001 to 2005.
