- Research on the host-pathogen relationship in association with several human diseases, such as autoimmunity, pathological pregnancy and neurodegeneration (e.g., Multiple Sclerosis and AD).

- mechanisms of viral immune escape exploiting HLA-G, a tolerogenic molecule, and its association with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.

- studies on Herpesvirus infections and their implication in neurodegenerative diseases; HHV-6A and -6B infections and their association with HLA-G and other neurodegenerative and inflammatory biomarkers

- Study of the effect on immunity, pregnancy and coagulation induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection

- Study of inhibitors of Bacterial Quorum Sensing

- Study of the pathogenetic role of specific Flavivirus proteins
