Curriculum
Benedetta Caglioti is a researcher in the History of Architecture at the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara.
She graduated with honors in Architecture (Ferrara, 2008) and specialized with honors in Architectural and Landscape Heritage (Rome, 2012). She obtained a advanced Master's degree in "Architecture, Sacred Arts, and Liturgy" (Rome, 2015) and a PhD in the “History of Architecture” with excellent honors (Rome, 2019). From 2020 to 2022, she held a research fellowship at the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Ferrara.
She has obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in the Competition Sector 08/E2 – Restoration and History of Architecture.
She teaches “History and Project for an Interpretation of Pre-Existences” and “History of Contemporary Architecture” at the Department of Architecture of Ferrara, “History and Culture of Restoration” and “Architectures on Pre-Existences” at the Department of Humanistic Studies of Ferrara, and conducts teaching and seminar activities at the Specialization School in Architectural and Landscape Heritage at the University Sapienza of Rome. She has been a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Navarra in Pamplona.
She is the principal investigator (PI) of research activities related to the history and restoration of architecture, including the project "Culture, Its Perceptions. Cultural Fruition of Heritage for Children with Perceptive and Cognitive Disabilities for an Ethically Sustainable Design" (PRIN 2022 PNRR); "The Museum at the Center: Design and Narrative Strategies for Palazzo Costabili in Ferrara" (5x1000 funding for young researchers, University of Ferrara); "History and Project. The Italian War Memorials for the Fallen of the Great War" (Departmental Research Incentive Fund, University of Ferrara).
She is also the head of the Architectural History Research Laboratory "A Latere" at the Department of Architecture of Ferrara and a member of the scientific committee of the "ECeC. Cultural Heritage and Communities. Territories, Citizenship, Wellbeing" Research Laboratory at the Department of Humanistic Studies of Ferrara.
In relation to the themes of the history and conservation of architecture, particularly with regard to the relationship between history and design, she participates as a selected speaker or invited speaker at numerous national and international conferences and organizes study days and conferences.
She is the editor-in-chief of the editorial collection “In Chordis. Between History and Restoration of Architecture” and a member of the editorial board of the scientific journals “Abitare la Terra” and MD journal (both classified in ANVUR Class A).
