Prof. Antonio Capuzzo was born in Ferrara (Italy) on March 29, 1947. Graduated in Chemistry in 1970 with full marks and "summa cum laude". From 1974 to 1980 was Assistant Professor in General Physiology at the University of Ferrara.Since 1980, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Maths, Physics and Natural Sciences of the University of Ferrara, Teacher of Cell Physiology, Environmental Physiology, Food science and human nutrition.
Prof. Capuzzo’s research activity has concerned the hormonal responsiveness of fish hepatocytes to catecholamines and the effects on cell signaling in some marine invertebrates.
The main research topics are:
- the characterization of adrenergic receptors in some terrestrial and marine organisms;
- the mechanisms of signal transduction in marine vertebrates and invertebrates, mainly focusing on the role of cAMP and G proteins;
- the effects of some contaminants on cell signaling in marine vertebrates and invertebrates.
