Research activity
The principal reseach interest has been devoted mainly to the crystal-chemistry and crystal structure of zeolites, in particular to the kinetics of phase transition, transformation and crystallization of minerals with a special attention to zeolites, -Rietveld structure refinement of zeolites and based on conventional (laboratory) and non-conventional (synchrotron X-rays and neutrons) radiation sources, with the aim to understand the physical-chemical and tech properties, -quantitative phase analysis using the Rietveld-R.I.R. method. The activity in this field can thus be outlined:
1.in situ time-resolved X ray diffraction studies on the structural modifications induced by dehydration in zeolites;
2.neutron powder diffraction studies on acidic dehydrated/rehydrated zeolites;
3.removal of hydrocarbons from water using organophylic zeolites;
4. the structural characterisation of zeolites exchanged with transition metals, in NH4 or H forms, of importance for their applications
5. use of zeolites in the treatment of water polluted by sulfamide antibiotics
6. Study of gemstones by combined X-ray diffraction and optic and spectroscopic methods
