Graduated in Architecture in 1986 at the University of Florence, PhD in 1995 in "Survey and Representation", University of Florence. Since 1997 he has been Researcher and since 2005 he is Associate Professor SSD ICAR17 at the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara. In 2017 he is qualified as Full Professor (ASN - 1532/2016) 08/E1.
Between 1997 and 1998 he is in charge of the Computer Graphics Laboratory of the Faculty of Architecture of Ferrara and since 2000 he fulfils this role of responsibility for the teaching and research Lab.
In 2000 he was appointed Head of Nub Lab (Modeling Architectural Surveying & Research), the Laboratory of survey, modeling and 3D prototyping of the Faculty of Architecture of Ferrara, which founded together with Marco Gaiani.
In 2003 he founded the Center for the Development of Integrated Automatic Procedures for the Restoration of Monuments - DIAPReM of the University of Ferrara, to which the Nub Lab will be included and of which he has always been member of the Board of Directors.
Since 2006 he has been Director of the DIAPReM Departmental Center. In these years of management, he develops agreements with research centers, ministries and institutions, and he involves the Center in scientific and industrial collaboration activities and training agreements in Italy and abroad.
From 2008 to 2012 he is Deputy Director of the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara, a role he currently holds since October 2015.
Since 2010 he is the Scientific Responsible of the Teknehub Laboratory for the Emilia-Romagna High-Tech Network Construction Platform. From 2010 to 2013 he was appointed Scientific Referent of the whole Construction Platform of the Emilia-Romagna High Technology Network.
Since 2017 he has been President of the "Clust-ER Edilizia e Costruzioni" Association.
From 2010 to 2012 he is a member of the Focus Area Cultural Heritage, Horizontal Issue "Archeology", of the European Construction Technology Platform.
Since 2016 he is a member of the Technology Transfer Commission and then the “Terza Missione” Commission of the University of Ferrara.
Since 2012 he is a member of the Board of Directors of Sealine, Departmental Research Center for the development of coastal systems and tourism of the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara.
Since 2012 he is a member of ICOMOS Italia.
Since 2017 he is Director of the II Level post graduated Master "eBIM: existing building information modeling for construction management".
He is a member of the IDAUP - International Doctorate in Architecture and Urban Planning, coordinated by the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara
He is a member of the UID, Unione Italiana Disegno.
Since 2017 he is Director of the series ICAR / 17 "Survey and Representation Research, from Architectural to Industrial Design".
He has been a jury member and president of the jury of national and international competitions and awards, including the "Innovazione e Qualità Urbana" Award, the "Sustainable Architecture" International Award, the "Domus Restauro Architettonico" international prize, which he helped to found and support.

He has participated in numerous scientific conferences as a speaker and is the author of more than 400 scientific publications in the field of Survey and Representation.
