Born in Padua on April 22th 1959.
•1985: Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Padua with an experimental thesis entitled "Studio dei livelli di Apoproteine A-I e B e di HDL2 e HDL3 nei pazienti con arteriosclerosi periferica” (Prof. R. Fellin).
•1989: Residency in Geriatrics and Gerontology at the University of Padua with thesis entitled "Valutazione critica degli indici di valutazione funzionale nell'anziano" (Prof. G. Crepaldi).
•1985-1987: Research activity in the Institute of Internal Medicine of Padua University, focusing his interest on lipid metabolism, atherosclerosis, and clinical trials with new HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.
•1986-1987: Clinical activity in the III Division of the Geriatric Hospital of Padua (director: Prof. O. de Candia).
•1988-1990: Basic reasearch activity in the Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, U.S.A. (director: Prof. J.L. Golstein and Prof. M.S. Brown) as Assistant Instructor. His principal results are the following: identification of new genetic markers, identification of new polymorphisms in genes involved in lipid metabolism, characterization of new mutation in the LDL-receptor gene causing FH, indentification of a new metabolic disease called Autosomal Recessive Hypercholesterolemia (ARH).
•1995: PhD in Experimental Medicine (group: Atherosclerosis) at the University of Siena with thesis entitled "Uso dei markers genetici nella diagnostica delle ipercolesterolemie" (Prof. G. Weber).
•1991-2005: Medical doctor at the Institute of Internal Medicine, Gerontology & Geriatrics of the University di Ferrara (director Prof. R. Fellin) working in clinical, ambulatorial and Day-Hospital activity; research acvitity in gerontology, lipid metabolism, and cognitive impairment/dementia.
•2004: Professional qualification as Associate Professor in Internal Medicine (Med09) at the university of Florence.
•2005: Associate Professor in Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ferrara.
•2006: High specialization charge in “Study of cognitive decline associated with metabolic disease" at the Azienda Ospedale-Università S. Anna in Ferrara.
•Teacher of Internal Medicine for degree course in Odontist, and teacher of Geriatrics for degree course in Medicine. Teacher at the residency in Endocrinology & Metabolism, Internal Medicine, Clinical Pathology, Working Medicine, and for the degree in Physiotherapy and Dental Hygiene of the University of Ferrara.
