1989: PhD in Earth Sciences.
1990: Researcher at the University of Ferrara, Italy.
2006-present: Associate Professor of Micropaleonology, Laboratory of Biostratigraphy and Paleoecology at the Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra, Ferrara University, Italy.
Researches have been focalised mainly on planktonic foraminiferal biostratigraphy, evolution, paleoecology, paleoclimatology and paleoceanography, predominantly of the Cretaceous-Paleogene interval. They have included also the sequence stratigraphy of Paleogene successions of the Venetian pre-Alps and the Cretaceous-Paleogene mass extinction. Recent researches comprise the plaeoceanography of the Cretaceous Oceanic Anoxic Events.
Author or co-author of some 60 research papers on international and national journals and more then 120 conference presentations at national and international meetings (2011 SCOPUS h index =12).
Present research topics are the following: the extreme climates of the Paleogene "greenhouse world" (hyperthermal events) and the transition to the “icehouse world”, the socalled “doubthouse world”; Interactions between geological and biotic Events; Quaternary climate changes; Environmental Micropaleontology.

President of Geotema Srl. Enterprise, Spin-off of the Ferrara University, active in the environmental monitoring;

Delegate of the Facoltà di Scienze for the Equal Opportunity Committee of the Ferrara University.
