Curriculum

Technology & Open innovation manager. Teacher’s contract at University for the course Azionamenti Elettronici. Mattioli Renato was born on November 7th, 1962 in Gela (CL).

EDUCATION

  • Diploma of Master Electrician achieved on 07/21/1981 at the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Nullo Baldini of Ravenna, with an examination mark of 58/60.
  • University Degree of Electronic Engineering, automatic specialization, achieved at the Università degli Studi di Bologna during the academic years 1989/1990,with an examination mark of 100/100 and distinction. Title: Design of a control system for a variable reluctance motor. Teacher: prof. Fabio Filicori.

JOB EXPERIENCES

  • From 02/20/1991 to 09/01/1992

Consultant and then design engineer at Sadel Srl, a company in which I was involved in the creation and management of a highly innovative project, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics Computer Science and Systems Engineering, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna. The project consisted of the construction of a fully digital system of field-oriented controls for induction motors, which allowed to obtain the benefits authorized only by extremely expensive electric motors. The project could boast technologies and innovation sat the time of realization. For the power: IGBT- Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors, which have revolutionized the packaging and conversion of electrical energy. For the part of the control: DSP - Digital Signal Processor, which have enabled the development of digital control techniques.

  • From 10/15/1992 at 02/01/2003

Chief of R&D laboratory at the Selema Srl

During my experience in Selema S.r.l. I was responsible for the creation of a PLC with an integrated command interpreter, DSP cards for data acquisition and processing, study and realization of DSP algorithms for sophisticated control of induction and brushless motors, improved in the field. This work has contributed significantly to the growth of the company in the field of drives with high technological content. At the same time, I became interested in the issues relating to electromagnetic compatibility and contributed to the company's ISO 9001 certification, in relation to the procedures related to the design.

CURRENT OCCUPATION

  • April 2003

I founded, along with other companies, the company MD Motion Ltd, of which I am the technical director, with the aim to produce and sell Electrical Drives for brushless motors and AC in general. Together ALSTOM Railway Spa, has developed products that provide for the control of brushless motors for railroad switches in extreme environmental conditions. These are the products most technologically advanced in the world, currently in the railway industry.

  • Since October 2011

I became President of the company, MD Motion Ltd, and I have contributed over the years to lead to success by building partnerships with major international companies thanks to the excellence of our projects.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

In parallel with my design work at an industrial level, in order to maintain a constant presence on all possible future applications of technologies related to automatic digital control, I began to collaborate with the University.

  • On 05/28/199 and 12/15/1999

I held two seminars at the University of Ferrara about: Electric Drives: constructive aspects and problems of use.

  • Academic Year 1999/2000

Teacher at Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Bologna, the official course of Electric Drives, Technical University Diploma Course in Orthopedics.

CURRENT TEACHING

  • From Academic Year 2000/2001

Teacher at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ferrara, official course of electrical drives, Degree in Electronics Engineering, specialization Automatic.

OTHER EXPERIENCES

Supervisor of different arguments in the context of high-performance control in the field of electric motors.

Scientific responsibility of the following projects of industrial research and technology transfer:

  • Study and realization of a drive for a high-performance permanent magnet synchronous linear motor with innovative detection techniques of sensorless flux. Project realized in collaboration with the University of Ferrara during the period September 2001 - February 2002.
  • Implementation of a numerical control for the management of a communication interface digital CAN- PC104 able to connect a machine CN ,acting as master , to a network of field CAN / CANopen ( MasterCan ) and an Ethernet network of higher level with TCP / IP, which allows the management and diagnosis of the system remotely. Research carried out in collaboration with the University of Ferrara, during the period October 2003 - September 2003.
  • Design and Synthesis of HDL parts of the logic and power board of electric Drives for Brushless and Asynchronous motor realized with CPLD . Research carried out in collaboration with the University of Ferrara during the period January 2003 - December 2003.
