Luigi Russo was born in Ferrara on 14 January 1963.
In 1987 he got the Law Degree (First-Class Honours) with 110/110 and laude at the Law Faculty of the University of Ferrara.
Since 1996 he was enrolled in the «Bar of Attorneys» of Ferrara.
In 1994 he got a PhD in Italian and Comparative Agricultural Law at Pisa University.
In 1995 he got a biennial scholarship «post PhD Fellowship» for research activity from the University of Ferrara.
Since 1998 he is ordinary member of the Istituto di diritto agrario internazionale e comparato (Florence).
In December 2002 he has achieved the suitability to university «associate» professor in scientific-disciplinary field IUS/03, in the comparative procedure of the Faculty of Agricultural Scinces at the University of Pisa.
In 1998/99 he was contract professor in the course of «Agrarian Law» in the Faculty of Agricultural Scince at the University of Padova.
In 2002/03 he was contract professor in the course of «Agrarian Law» in the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, center of Piacenza.
In the academic years 2000/01, 2001/02, 2002/03 and 2003/04 he was contract professor in the course of «Agrarian Law» in the Faculty of Sciences and agrarian technologies of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
In 2001/02, 2002/03, 2003/04, 2004/05 he was Professor in the «Master in Promotion and control of the agricultural and food- productions of quality», at the Advanced School S. Anna in Pisa.
Since 2005 he is Associate professor of «Agrarian Law» at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ferrara.
Confirmed as Associate professor in 2009.
"Correspondent member" of Accademia dei Georgofili from 2008. "Correspondent member" of Accademia dei Concordi from 2012.
He is author of many publications (more than 70) on Italian legal reviews and of the following monographies «Rinunce, transazioni e accordi individuali in deroga nei contratti agrari», Cedam, Padova, 2002, e «Riforma della PAC e allargamento dell'Unione Europea», Aracne, Roma, 2005; collaborated with Luigi Costato, in the drawing up of the third edition of «Corso di diritto agrario italiano e comunitario», Giuffrè, Milano, 2008.
