My research is mainly devoted to the study and construction of numerical methods for nonlinear differential equations of hyperbolic and kinetic type. These problems were addressed in several fields of applied sciences (gas dynamics, semiconductors, plasma physics, granular materials, porous media, thin films, shallow water, quantum mechanics, traffic flow, socio-economics, finance, etc..). The results are reported in about 100 scientific publications and 3 books. Here is a short summary of the research topics I have been involved in chronological order.
• Discrete velocity models in kinetic theory.
• Digital implementation of bio-medical images.
• Computation of singular integrals in structural mechanics.
• Numerical methods for hyperbolic problems with sources.
• Monte Carlo methods for integro-differential equations.
• Spectral methods and fast algorithms
• Implicit-explicit (IMEX) Runge-Kutta methods
• Hybrid numerical methods for multiscale problems.
• Degenerate parabolic problems.
• Exponential Integrators for stiff differential equations
