Local Coordinator for the Pilot Project 'Signal processing for the acoustic and vibration diagnosis of rotating machines', partially funded by the EC in the frame of the Leonardo da Vinci Program and carried out from 1997 to 2000. Scientific Coordinator of the research project between University of Bologna and Ducati Corse S.r.l., developed from 1999 and 2000 on the topic 'Performance improvement of a racing motorbike engine's desmodromic valve train'. From 2001 he has been Scientific Coordinator of numerous research projects between University of Ferrara and industrial companies, as VM Motori SpA, TRW Automotive Italia SpA, CNH Italia SpA., Technogym SpA, APIcom Srl, Calzoni Srl. Local Coordinator of Ferrara University Research Unit in programmes PRIN 2001 e PRIN 2004.
Author or co-author of 93 papers, mostly published in international journals or international conference proceedings. Its scientific production mainly concerns the following topics. Development of advanced methods for monitoring and diagnostics, based on vibration and acoustic emission analysis, in the fields of machinery faults and cutting tools. Mathematical modelling and simulation of the vibrations and the elastodynamic behaviour of mechanical systems. Use of models for diagnostics.
