Curriculum

Marcello Bonfè was born in Ferrara the 1st of august 1973.

He received the High School Diploma in Computer Science and Accountancy in 1991 and the Master Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Ferrara in 1998, presenting a final thesis entitled "Planning techniques with partial knowledge" (supervisor: Prof. Paola Mello).

In 2003 he received the Ph.D. in Information Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, presenting a final thesis entitled "Formal Methods for Manufacturing Systems Control Design" (supervisor: Prof. Sergio Beghelli).

From 2004 to 2020 he has been Assistant Professor in Automatic Control at the Department of Engineering of the University of Ferrara. From December 2020 he is Associate Professor in Bioengineering at the same Departiment.

The teaching activity of Marcello Bonfè consists of the courses of "Automatic Control Basics", for students in Electronic Engineering, and "Control Systems Technology" for students in Automation Engineering, given by the Department of Engineering of the University of Ferrara. The first course has been teached by Marcello Bonfè since 2011, while the second one since 2003.

 

The scientific research activity of Marcello Bonfè is focused on the following topics:

- Motion Planning and Control for Robotics;

- Simulation of Ultrasound Scanners for Medical Training;

- Design of Electrical Drives;

- Automatic Fault Detection and Isolation;

- Formal Methods for Verification of Logic Control Systems;

- Modeling and Simulation of Mechatronic Systems;

and is documented in more than 80 papers on international journals and conference proceedings.

 

Marcello Bonfè is or has been involved in the following research projects, funded by the European Union and by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR):

- "SARAS: Smart Autonomous Robotic Assistant Surgeon" www.saras-project.eu (EU Horizon 2020, Grant N. 779813): scientific supervisor of the beneficiary partner University of Ferrara, Coordinator: Dr. Riccardo Muradore (University of Verona).

- "I-SUR: Intelligent Surgical Robotics" (EU FP7/2007-2013, Grant N. 270396): scientific supervisor of third party, linked to the beneficiary University of Verona, Coordinatore: Prof. Paolo Fiorini (University of Verona).

- “Metodi Orientati agli Oggetti per la Modellistica di sistemi meccatronici (Object-Oriented Methods for Mechatronic System Modeling)” (PRIN2005, Italian MIUR), Coordinator: Prof. Cesare Fantuzzi (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia);

- “Sviluppo di sistemi integrati di guida, controllo e gestione di missione per il volo autonomo di velivoli non pilotati (Development of integrated systems for guidance, control and mission management for autonomous flight of unmanned aerial vehicles)” (COFIN2003), Italian MIUR), Coordinator: Prof. Mario Innocenti (University of Pisa).

and has been the scientific coordinator of the following industrial research projects:

- "COORSA (Cooperation between human Operators and mobile manipulation Robots for Safe fActory of the future)", funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region with the POR FESR 2014/2020 programme, scientific partners: Intermech (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), CIRI-MAM (University of Bologna), CIDEA (University of Parma), and industrial partners: Elettric80 SpA, Bucher Hydraulic and SACMI.

- research project developed by the Department of Engineering of the University of Ferrara for Unicomgroup S.p.A., for the development of an AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) for industrial logistics (July 2017 - March 2019).

- research project developed by the Department of Engineering of the University of Ferrara for CNI Informatica S.r.l., for the development a supervision and control system for woodworking machine and painting robotic manipulators (April 2010 - April 2012).

- research project developed by Consorzio Ferrara Ricerche for C.T. Pack S.r.l., for the development of a high-performance robotic manipulator with integrated vision system (September 2006 - May 2008).

- research project developed by Consorzio Ferrara Ricerche for TRW Automotive Italia S.p.A., for the development of a brushless electric drive (September 2005 – June 2007).

- research project developed by Consorzio Ferrara Ricerche for Elau Systems Italia, for the design of a software application for supervision and fault diagnosis in packaging machines (December 2005 – December 2006).
